The Toronto Ultimate Club is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of Ultimate players in Toronto. We organize leagues for the spring, summer, fall & winter seasons, run skills and strategy clinics, host the Toronto Ultimate Tournament, sponsor other tournaments including the Ontario high school championships, and provide support to local touring teams. We now have more than 2500 members and are still growing rapidly.
Invented by high school students in 1967-1968, Ultimate is a fun and
challenging non-contact team sport played with a plastic flying disc. Organized
games typically involve 7-on-7 players outdoor on grass. However, the game is
easily adapted for different age groups, can be played most anywhere, and can
be played with teams of most any size.
Combining elements of basketball, football and soccer, passing advances the
disc; with one point earned each time a team reaches their end zone.
Uniquely, all actions in Ultimate are governed by the “Spirit of the
Game”, a sportsmanship ethic that leaves responsibility for officiating up to
the players themselves; there are no referees.
Ultimate teaches teamwork and conflict resolution skills, it is great
exercise, and it allows young people to develop technical skills while having
fun.
Participation in this grass-roots sport is expanding rapidly throughout Canada, the USA, and the world, especially in schools throughout North America.
